Thirteen students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades gathered in Mrs. Smith's Room to pursue their Spring Passion Project of coding using Scratch. Scratch, is a visual programming language and online community developed by the MIT Media Lab to introduce students to computer programming. There are over 22 million students internationally who are learning to code with this exciting language.
Scratch broadens opportunities for youth from under-represented groups to help them become future high-tech designers and inventors. The language mascot, Scratch the Cat, can be found active on all the students' Chromebook computers as they take their first steps in the exciting world of computer programming. Maybe the next Bill Gates or Grace Hopper are sitting in this class.
Congratulations, for being the 1st Funston Students to learn computer programming!
